AEB: Russian car, LCV sales rise 10.6% to 143,452 units in Jul

MOSCOW, Aug 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) rose 10.6% on the year to 143,452 vehicles in July, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement on Monday.

In January–July, sales of cars and LCVs rose 17% to 992,673 units.

“No fundamental change in July – market sales continue to recover at a comfortable double-digit pace, for the 15th consecutive month now. Main driver of growth remains the continuous positive trend in consumer confidence, encouraging customers to finally exchange their older car for a new one,” AEB said quoting Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.

Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ grew 11% on the year to 29,389 cars in July and 20% to 199,273 units in January–July.
